OPIS PROJEKTU

Goldra Park is located in under the hill, on river in city Covilha in Mountains Serra de Estrela.

This Park had been changed from farms and fields into a modern  garden with many procreative function for many people. Before, this park was full of green and been place of peace. After the renovation become into a chaotic modern style park with no trees (if are they, are small and give no shadow). Also the materials used there are not good. Walking on the grain surface is not pleasant, white walls reflecting sun light make this peace unstained in summer, no trees makes this place unpleasant.

 

There are some good views on this park, it has beautiful landscape, good situation, matching with city, river and tarases. River make this park alive and also gives some cold to local area (microclimate). Tarases gives attractiveness and nice view points. Road nearness make this park reachable to local people.

 

New suggestions and new plan

 

            My project of Goldra Park is an new conception. It includes old and new aspects of planning parks. I changed this park from desert to green place. Making 2 main peaces with leading concept. Down part of park is like a grass field falling down to the valley and second – up part is like an small forest with many big trees. This two parts of park matches in their endings by stairs an places.

 

This conception I took from my country – Poland where are many nature park with grass fields and big trees, which is very beautiful and pleasant. That parks are always good looking and well used by people, because people fill there good and rested.

 

Planning this park I first look for main points, from which I could start work. There are a main road in down of the hill and second one which leads up to the University. These roads also are boarders  of the park.

 

From south a border is river, which is no regulated and has many meandering lines, what makes it more natural.

            Second step of planning was studding the plans of old looking this park, where I found many interesting thinks, like that there were many olives trees, small plants, little tarase fields and local architecture – like cottages. Old plans are as equal as my new conception, because I based highs and fallings on old map. For example there are an main line (wall) leading frm top of the park to down in the middle. I made this line my main path in garden. That path is matching two endings if the park and also is a wall being a background to he down part of the park.

            On the picture bellow you can see a sketch of first thinking about this park, where the main path was near the river, not in the middle. Small paths were matched to the main one, but after studding plans, it changed.

 

After studding plans sketch changed into this one bellow. In this you can see begging of ending plan. There are a main path in the middle, which separated to parts of park, one down with grass field and second with small forest with big trees. In the ending of the path down the park is main place with cafés and playground for children.

 

Goldra Park needs to be a place, where people can rest from city life; place where you fill good, safe and free; place for meeting as also place being private. Park should be cultural center of the city. Meeting place, private surface, open views, shadows, all of this you can find in new conception of Goldra Park.

 

Explanations

 

Being citizens of Civiha we entering to main place in down of the hill. We see an representative stairs, which leads up straightly to upper part of park (with big trees). From main place we have entrances to two cafes, which are hidden under tarases (one made of tiles and second green one). Between two cafes we have another stairs, which leads to green field bellow café. Representative stairs takes about 8 m high.

 

Upper part of the park has two paths, one small which has many stoppings with chairs. That small path meandering leads to place with fountain rounded by many trees. I thing that place will be nice and peaceful meeting point. That place is matched with small playground for children.

 

Second path in this part of park is the main path which matching parks endings. Starts on the main place next to cafes and ends under stairs leading to parking up of the hill.  In this place there is also a lift. Parking is matched with road leading to university.

 

From upper part of the park there are stairs near the river, then is a path disappearing in grass and changing into separated peaces of stone. That field of grass is falling gently down the hill, and ends on stairs, which are kind of barrier between levels of the grass field. This fields is also falling to river for that people can touch water.

 

On this falling fields of grass there are some olives trees standing alone, and being lighted during night. Also stones in grass are lighted.
